Meaning behind the name "Štrika" (ʃtriːka)
Our grandfather used to call our Olive Grove “Štrika”. It is called this way because of the old railway that was passing just below our land, connecting the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy with the city of Rovinj. Today, this is a bicycle path between Rovinj and Kanfanar connecting the 2 towns with a 22 km long route, and giving its visitors beautifull views of the Istrian peninsula. Štika is the place where it all started with our great grandfather Šime. He used to have a potato field, grapes and of course olives. Our grandfather inherited this land and later continued the grapes cultivation and than passed it to our father Đordano who continued the tradition and with lots of love passed it to us, his sons, Alex and Žan. When we were little , we used to spend our afternoons and weekends with our dad in our olive plantation. We helped him with planting olives, pruning and harvesting. Back then, we were doing it all by hand. This taught us how hard work in the field can be, but at the same time rewarding when you put your own olive oil on the table.
Where our story starts
When we grew up we decided to take it to the next level by planting more olive trees with the dream of offering our olive oil to the people, to make them feel and taste the aroma and flavours from our childhood. To make them feel at home when they try our product.
"We live olive oil"
We are a family owned olive oil production company. Everything we do is ecological and made with love.
"Štrika" Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a blend of various olives we pick on our olive plantation.
We have some traditional Istrian varieties like Buža, Rošinjola and Oblica, as well as Leccino and Pendolino which succeed very well on our land.
Our plantation now consists of 150 olive trees mainly of these sorts: "Pendolino", "Lecino", "Buža", and "Rošinjola" which are Istrian native sorts. In the year 2023. we plan on planting aditional 50 trees of the hybrid sort, something new for the new generations. Yearly production is estimated around 400 liters.
